Joel McCarroll and Scott Beaird will lead a discussion on the key changes to the recently-adopted 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD, available at http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/). States must adopt the 2009 National MUTCD as their legal State standard for traffic control devices within two years. Joel McCarroll, a member of the Oregon Traffic Control Devices Committee (OTCDC), will discuss Oregon’s progress towards adoption. Scott Beaird, a member of the Signals Technical Committee for the National Committee on Traffic Control Devices, will provide background on changes adopted for traffic control signals, including Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons and other pedestrian signals.
